A comment by the Delhi University’s professor on the social media app stirs a row. Rakesh Kumar Pandey, a professor at the University of Delhi has raised hackles. The students as well as the teachers are questioning the post by the professor. Amid the news sparked controversy, the students and the whole staff are raising eyebrows against the statement.

RAKESH KUMAR PANDEY ALLEGED “MARKS JIHAD”

In a Facebook post, Pandey alleged that there’s “marks Jihad” by Kerala’s education Board. Rakesh Kumar Pandey works as a Physics professor at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. He in his post wrote that the alleged “Marks Jihad”, forced some colleges to over admit the students. According to him, Kerala’s Education Board 100% marks to students have led to overburden seats in DU colleges.
 
Rakesh Kumar Pandey was also a former president of the RSS-affiliated National Democratic Teachers front. On Wednesday, he repeated that this inexplicable flow of students. From southern states shouldn’t be taken normally. And he alleged that Kerala Board has deliberately given marks to the students. Therefore, used the hashtag “Marks Jihad” in his Facebook post, Rakesh said. He even said that it should not be taken lightly, unintentional, normal or a or a benign development.
 

PANDEY’S COMMENTS ON MARKS JIHAD: ANALYSIS

Rakesh even said that There’s some kind of plan in operation from the past 2 to 3 years. It can connect to losing hold to left political parties in universities like JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University). And now they want to spread this to Delhi University as well, Pandey added. However, other teachers at Delhi University felt that it’s very unfortunate to use such terms.

Especially regarding the students and the marks from a particular board must not get considered. However, It’s very important to address the problem of high marks given by almost all the boards. Abha Dev Habib, a professor at Miranda House said that Moderation of marks must get done to make the score more acceptable. However, many boards are giving good marks to the students and one must not single out any particular state.
