DELHI UNIVERSITY

The education minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia directed the directorate of higher education to initiate a legal proceeding against Delhi University. This was done regarding alleged irregularities in relation to the governing bodies of its six colleges.

As per the sources, Mr. Sisodia apprehended a “conspiracy to cover up corruption” in these 6 colleges. This was in response to a lack of response from DU to “repeated correspondence” in regard to the truncated governing bodies.

The governing bodies of colleges which are regularly constituted usually,  funded both partially and fully by the Delhi government, they have not been reconstituted.

These truncated governing bodies were functioning since March 2019.

According to the sources, regular and repeated reminders were sent to the Delhi University to send six names of nominees of the Delhi government to the institutions. these institutions include Lakshmibai College, Kalindi College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Aditi College, Maharishi Valmiki College of Education, and Deen Dayal Upadhyay College. Despite reminders, the complete panel of names to the colleges concerned had not been sent.
