MANISH SISODIA HOLDS MEETING FOR FIRST VIRTUAL SCHOOL

Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia discussed the design of the country’s first virtual school with top officials and teachers on Thursday. Significantly, the Delhi government has proposed a proposal to set up virtual schools in the budget of 2021-22.

During the meeting, the model of virtual school running in the USA and New Zealand was discussed. However, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was directed to constitute a 6-member committee of school principals, teachers, and IT officers. The committee will study other global models in its research and will hand over the blueprint of the virtual school within a week.

While discussing the features of the Delhi Model Virtual School in the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Delhi’s virtual school will be like any other regular school. This school, which runs from ninth to twelfth, will have an ID, students will enroll in it and they will be given an enrollment ID. This school will be equipped with all the basic elements of teaching such as students, teachers, regular running teaching-learning activities, assessment.

He said that the virtual school will facilitate the students. These will include artists, sportspersons, school dropouts, youth, etc., apart from students desirous of studying from home.

Manish Sisodia said that during the last 1 year, the way teachers of Delhi have made excellent use of technology for teaching-learning is remarkable. Our teachers have learned to use technology better. He said that the online teaching-learning conducted during Corona has laid the foundation of the first virtual school in the country in Delhi.

The meeting was attended by Delhi Education Director and Education Advisor, along with the IT Secretary, Finance Department Officer, and other officials of the Education Department, Teachers, and Principal.
