Delhi University is set to introduce a new PG course from the next academic session. The university has approved the MA in Hindi Journalism, which will begin from the 2025–26 academic year.
The MA in Hindi Journalism course was approved by the Standing Committee on Academic Matters (SCOAM). This announcement came on May 30, marked as Hindi Journalism Day. The final approval of the course now awaits clearance from the academic council.
The new course will be offered by the Department of Hindi under the Faculty of Arts. It is designed according to the Postgraduate Curriculum Framework (PGCF).
A similar master’s course in English journalism is also being planned. That programme will start from the 2026–27 academic session. It will be offered under the Department of English.
The university aims to expand its media and communication courses. The introduction of MA in Hindi Journalism is seen as a step toward encouraging journalism in Indian languages. This will open new opportunities for students from Hindi-medium backgrounds.
