The Directorate of Higher Education has been directed to initiate legal proceedings against DU (Delhi University), by the Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia. The government sources have said that there are alleged irregularities in the governing bodies of six of its colleges.

Mr. Sisodia has apprehended a conspiracy to cover up corruption in these colleges. There has also been a lack of response from DU on the repeated correspondence of the government.

The regularly constituted governing bodies of colleges, according to sources, had not been reconstituted. These governing bodies include both fully and partially funded by the Delhi government. These governing bodies have been functioning like this since 2019.

According to sources, DU had been sent six names of nominees of the Delhi government to the institutions. Repeated reminders were sent regarding Lakshmibai College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Kalindi College, Aditi College, Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, and Maharishi Valmiki College of Education. But names of the complete panel were not sent to the concerned colleges.
