The Ramanujan College Delhi University is named after one of the biggest mathematicians of India, Srinivas Ramanujan. The Ramanujan College was previously known as the Deshbandhu (Evening) College. The college was renamed in 2010.
Fifteen courses in the disciplines of Humanities, Science, and Commerce, Management and Vocational Studies are being run by the college authorities. The Ramanujan College has been selected by the Education Ministry as a National Resource Center and a Teaching Learning Center.
The college was established in the memory of Late Deshbandhu Gupta who had dedicated his entire life to the freedom struggle. The College was originally run as a boy’s college but became co-educational in 1994. The college became a full-fledge morning college from the evening college in 2012.
The college campus is a newly structured campus with state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, auditoriums, and staffrooms. The campus of Ramanujan College Delhi University is a clean and green campus. The college has ICT enabled smart classrooms along with projectors.
The multiple computer labs of the college have more than 1500 desktops and laptops with the latest hardware and software. The college also has a language and media lab with the latest Audio-Visual equipment.
The college also has psychology and accounting & financing lab. The fully computerized library of Ramanujan College works on the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) system. The fully air-conditioned library has been divided into sections- textbook, reference, and newspapers & magazines. The easily accessible computer lab of the college helps the students in expanding the horizon of the learning. The students who are interested in sports have been winning many prizes and awards. This is because the college has an excellent sports facility and a large playground where the students can practice their game.
