Mata Sundari College for Women Delhi University

The Mata Sundari College for Women Delhi University is an all-girls’ college. The college is one of the very few colleges of Delhi University that offers the B.El.Ed course. The B.El.Ed course is an integrated professional degree program. The college is a Sikh minority college and therefore does not consider the reservations created by the Central government in the admission process. It only recognizes the Persons with Disability reservations.

The college was founded on July 17, 1967, by the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee of the Delhi state. The college is named after Mata Sundar Ji who was the consort of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The Mata Sundari Gurudwara is adjacent to the college and it is said that she had stayed in that Gurudwara for 43 years.

The Mata Sundari College for Women Delhi University offers postgraduation courses in Hindi, Political Science, Punjabi, and Sanskrit. To take admission in the postgraduation courses, you need to first register yourself on the postgraduation portal of Delhi University. After the registration process is complete, you will be appearing for the entrance test which is the Delhi University Joint Admission Test (DU-JAT).

After the results of the Joint Admission test are announced, cut-offs will be released on the basis of which you can choose the college and the course you want to pursue your masters.

CONCLUSION

Mata Sundari College for Women is a good college as it offers a variety of courses at both the under-graduation and the post-graduation level. The cut-offs are also not very high therefore, even if you have scored comparatively lesser marks, you will be able to secure admission into a good college.

The college also has reservations for Sikh Minority. Although, the college does not consider other reservations apart from the Persons with Disability (PwD) reservation.

The faculty of the college is very helpful and extremely qualified. They create a healthy learning environment for the students. This coupled with the presence of well-equipped laboratories creates the perfect package for students. Particularly, the laboratories are instrumental in providing practical knowledge to students.

The Library of Mata Sundari College for Women is one of the most significant assets of the college. The students can read leisurely for hours on end because of the comfortable seating provided in the college. The library is updated each year on the recommendation of the faculty and the students and has many books, journals, and magazines for the students to refer to.

The college has an auditorium with a seating capacity of more than 500 people. The college also has multipurpose halls, computer laboratories, a psychological laboratory, cafeteria, playgrounds, and a bank on the college campus. The college also has separate students’ internet access room. The entire college campus is Wi-Fi friendly.

The placement of the college is average with not-so-impressive packages being offered by the companies to the students. But the package is satisfactory.
