Daulat Ram College is one of the leading constituent colleges of the Delhi University. Founded in 1960 by the philanthropist and educational Shri Daulat Ram Gupta. The college bestows education at Undergraduate as well as Post-graduate levels. It is one of the largest and oldest women colleges that furnishes a holistic attitude towards education through different fields of Commerce, Science, and Humanities.
The college offers around 1200 seats for under-graduation courses to students and gives an enjoyable, challenging, successful co-curricular and curricular opportunities. Its holistic approach provides great learning experiences for the UG and PG students.
It offers courses like B.Sc., B.Com, B.A. program, and Hons. At the undergraduate level. Admissions to the undergraduate courses are provided to students based on the cutoff list published by the University. At the postgraduate level, it offers an MA in various specializations. To get admission to MA in DRC, candidates are required to sit for an entrance exam.
For procuring a cultivating educational environment, the college organizes various activities like Yoga training, self-defense training centers, Equal opportunity cell, NCC, NSS, WDC. The equal opportunity center is formulated to look after physically challenged or disabled students in DRC. At present DRC has 18 departments and around 3,546 students study in DRC.
The college is well furnished with computer laboratories and internet facilities. The WiFi facilitated lecture theatres, laboratories, and classrooms with LCD projectors enable students in their academic goals. It comprises of a fully air-conditioned library for students with around 115000 subscriptions and titles to various publications with a digitalized access and database.
To assist students to cope with the new college environment and various other problems and issues, the college has a counseling center run by the Psychology department.
The skill development programs offered by the DRC helps students in dealing with day to day challenges. For this, the college offers three courses namely Appreciation of Popular Culture, Self Enhancement Skill, and Skill development in applied chemistry & instrumentation. The courses are offered by the History, Psychology, and Chemistry department of the college during the summer holidays.
The highly experienced and qualified faculty professors of DRC are not just restricted to bookish education rather they also take up various research projects from organizations like ICSSR, DRDO, University of Delhi, UGC, etc. Here the students also get an opportunity to gain experience and work. The Daulat Ram College Delhi University hostel maintains a capacity of around 204 students. Its hostel is one of the best maintained in the Delhi University. It also comprises of a modern auditorium named as Sadbhavana Bhawan. The auditorium is best suited for theatre and other cultural activities with a large crew.
