UPSC examination

The Civil Service Examination (CSE) will commence tomorrow i.e. on October 4th. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the national level examination. There is information that due to the pandemic proper arrangements are made for the same by the UPSC. It is notified that there are 72 centers and 2,500 sub-centers for the examination. The candidates are allowed to change their test centers. The commission informed that around 60,000 candidates have availed the option.

This is the prelim examination and the civil services main examination is scheduled on the 8th of January. The examination has three stages and the candidates need to clear all of them. The stages are prelims, followed by main and then the last is the interview round.

Certain protocols need to be followed by students to give civil service exam. The aspirants are required to wear face mask or cover and the ones violating it won’t be allowed to enter their respective test centers. For verification purposes, the candidates will be told to remove the face shield or mask.

The instruction regarding the sanitizer bottle is that the aspirants are allowed to carry them to the exam centers. However, it should be a small and transparent bottle. UPSC instructs the candidates to follow all precautionary measures of social distancing and personal hygiene inside the exam halls.

The candidates are required to bring their photo identity card whose number they have mentioned in the e-admit card and the printout of their e-admit cards. The admit card should have authentic details like the name, roll no., the year in the UPSC exam is to be given by the candidates, and registration ID.

It is made clear that the candidates need to bring the documents for each session in the civil services exam. The ones whose photograph is clear in the admit cards are expected to bring two passport size photographs as there will be two sessions to appear for the exam in the examination hall.

For the morning session, the candidates have to report at 9: 20 am and for the afternoon at 2:20 pm. The exam centers will be closed 10 mins before the starting of the examination. The aspirants are required to reach the venue on time as late entries will not be entertained. They are requested to take buffer time for frisking.

The items which are restricted inside the exam centers are mobile phones (not even the switch off ones), any storage media like pen drive, smartwatches, pager, any electronic media or programmable device, camera, or Bluetooth devices. Moreover, any other device which can be used as a mode of communication even if it is not working or is switched off. These devices are banned. Any discrepancy in the instructions will not be tolerated and the candidate will be punished. That’s why the aspirants are requested to abide strictly by the rules to give the civil service exam.

The smartwatches or the ones which are capable of being used as a communication device are prohibited to be accompanied by the candidates. However, simple devices like a simple watch are allowed.
