Acharya Narendra Dev College embarked on its journey in the early 1990s. The  Minister of that time was Chandra Shekhar Singh,  who made the announcement of the establishment of the college.

At that time, the college began with 80 pupils of B.Com (Hons.) and B.Sc General in the R.K Puram area of the Southern part of Delhi. In the year 1992, the college shifted its location to Govindpuri.

ANDC is one of the few colleges of Delhi University, that has a laboratory. The lab in the college is fully air-conditioned and spacious. Also, the college has the facility of a web-enabled canteen for its pupils where the students can get free wi-fi. Moreover, the college has a video conferencing hall and a conference hall too.

Ramps with railings in several areas for seamless accessibility exist on the campus. The college tries to ensure that all the lessons of orthopedically challenged students are held on the ground. Also, Lex’s vision aid camera reading system along with notebook computer and other aiding devices for visually challenged students are present in the college library. The facility for Braille to speech transformation is available. A wheelchair is accessible at the college gate. Acharya Narendra Dev College also provides a free pick wheelchair-up/drop facility from campus to Govindpuri metro station during examinations.

Sports is a part of curriculum subject under part of Physical Education in the College and educated as Generic papers in various undergraduate courses.

The College has provision for table tennis, chess, cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, athletics. Limited coaching classes are held by expert instructors for training the immersed students to take up sports as an attainable career option.

Moreover, ANDC lays special priority towards the development of sports for para-athletes. The College oversees an annual multi-sport event implicating athletes with a range of disabilities, including impaired muscle power, passive range of movement, limb deficiency, vision impairment, intellectual impairment.

The college has a total of eight research laboratories formulated to perform for advanced scientific research. Funded solely by the College administration,  EXPLORE (Excursions for Peer Learning in an Open and Rejuvenating Environment), enables students to organize short trips, usually 1 to 3 days outing trips for second-year students. These are educational tours or field trips attended by their classmates and faculty to provide a chance for students to explore and learn from their surroundings. These trips help students to explore themselves in a better way.
