The JNUSU results 2025 are out. The Left alliance has won big in the central panel elections at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). They secured three out of four top posts.

However, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) made a strong comeback. They won the post of Joint Secretary after ten years.

In the JNUSU results 2025, Nitish Kumar from AISA was elected President. Manisha from DSF won the post of Vice President. Munteha Fatima from DSF became the General Secretary. Vaibhav Meena from ABVP won the Joint Secretary position.

The JNUSU results for 2025 were announced after the elections held on April 25. The voting was delayed earlier because of campus violence. Even with the delay, the voter turnout was high. About 70% of students voted, with nearly 5,500 votes cast.

This year’s elections were a four-way battle. The main groups were the AISA-DSF alliance, ABVP, NSUI-Fraternity, and others. The JNUSU results 2025 show that the Left held its ground, but ABVP gained new strength.

The new President, Nitish Kumar (AISA), said he would work for student welfare. Manisha (DSF), now Vice President, said the Left would keep raising student issues. Munteha Fatima (DSF), elected General Secretary, promised to continue fighting for students’ rights. Vaibhav Meena (ABVP), who won Joint Secretary, said this was just the beginning for ABVP.

The JNUSU results 2025 also brought big news from the councillor elections. ABVP won 23 out of 44 councillor seats across JNU’s 16 schools and centres. This win gives ABVP much more say in JNUSU’s decisions going forward.

For the first time in 25 years, ABVP broke the Left’s hold in the School of Social Sciences. They won two out of five seats there. The JNUSU results 2025 also showed that ABVP won two seats in the School of International Studies.

However, the Left kept its stronghold in the School of Language. Here, ABVP did not win any of the six seats. All six were won by Left student groups.

Other student groups also performed in the elections. The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students Federation (AISF), Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students Association (BAPSA), and Progressive Students Association (PSA) won five councillor seats together.

In the JNUSU results 2025, the AISA-DSF alliance won seven councillor seats. They won three seats in the School of Language and Culture Studies, two in the School of Social Sciences, one in SIS, and one in the School of Arts and Aesthetics.

ABVP also performed strongly in several schools. They won:

  • One seat in the School of Biotechnology.
  • One seat in the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine.
  • One seat in the School of Computational and Integrative Science.
  • Two out of three seats in the School of Computer and Systems Sciences.
  • All four seats in the School of Engineering.

The JNUSU results 2025 also showed ABVP’s wins in new areas:

  • One seat in the Special Centre for Nanoscience.
  • All three seats in the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies.
  • Both seats in the Amalgamated Centre.
  • One seat in the School of Environmental Sciences.
  • One seat in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship.
  • Two out of three seats in the School of Physical Sciences.

The JNUSU results 2025 show that ABVP gained from the Left’s split. Many Left-leaning student groups fought separately this year. This split gave ABVP the chance to win in many centres.

Still, traditional Left strongholds like the School of Language stayed out of ABVP’s reach. The Left groups here stayed united and won all the seats.

The JNUSU results 2025 have made it clear. The Left remains strong at JNU. But ABVP is growing fast and could challenge the Left more in future elections.

With their councillor seats, ABVP now has a bigger role in the student union’s decisions. No proposal in JNUSU can pass without the councillors’ support. So ABVP’s strong showing matters a lot.

The JNUSU results 2025 are a big moment in JNU’s political history. They show that change is happening slowly but surely.

Students are now looking forward to how the new leaders will work for the campus. The JNUSU results 2025 have set the stage for an active and exciting political year ahead at JNU.
