JNU TO GET FINANCIAL HELP OF 459 CRORE | HIGHER EDUCATION FUNDING AGENCY

 

Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) provided financial help of 455.02 crore to JNU for the construction of buildings, hostels, and research centers.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is going to build new academic buildings, hostels, and research centers. For the construction of infrastructure, the Higher Education Funding Agency (HEFA) financially assisted JNU. It had got financial help of Rs. 455.02 crore from HEFA. The vice-chancellor of JNU M Jagdesh Kumar said that the fund provided by HEFA would also be used for the establishment of the Advanced Animal Research Facility. It will help to carry out research on communicable, non-communicable, and rare diseases. These diseases include coronavirus also.

FUND WILL BE USED TO INSTALL ERP SYSTEM

Moreover, the funds provided to JNU will be used for the installation of an integrated and unified Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Registrar Pramod Kumar said that this system will ensure that all academic and administrative procedures would be carried out online in an integrated manner. He further said that the new system will help to make all the processes of University efficient and time-bound.

THE FUND PROVIDED WOULD BE USED FOR OTHER FACILITIES ALSO

VC of JNU said that the financial aid provided by HEFA would be used for the construction of hostels and academic buildings for the School of Engineering and Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship and Trans-Disciplinary Academic Research. The fund will also be used in other research facilities like the Advanced Animal Research Facility and Advanced Instrumentation Research Facility. Incubation Centre for Start-up companies, special centres for e-learning, and Lecture Hall Complex will also be established with this fund provided by HEFA.

ONLY 2000 STUDENTS GET ADMISSION IN JNU

1.3 lakh students appear for the entrance test to get admission in JNU every year. Only 2000 students get admission. So, the university has thought that those students who would not get admission in JNU can apply for online degree programs. So, the Special Centre for E-learning will provide online degree programs to those students.

THIS DECISION WILL TUNE IN WITH THE NEW EDUCATION POLICY

The National Education Policy focus of increasing the gross enrolment ratio. This decision will be fit for this objective of the New Education Policy. The Advanced Instrumentation. Research Facility (AIRF) and Advanced Animal Research Facility (AARF) will help in increasing the ability of JNU in research. It will be available for other institutions in India as the national facility.

JNU OFFICIALS MADE A PROPOSAL TO HEFA FOR FINANCIAL AID

The Vice Chancellor said that the Animal Research Facility will be helpful to research about communicable, non-communicable and rare diseases including coronavirus. He thanked the officials of JNU who proposed HEFA. He said that the construction of infrastructure would begin soon.
