Jawaharlal Nehru University students are protesting in Delhi in favour of Afreen Fatima. JNU protest is to support Afreen as Bulldozer action was taken at her house. She is an activist and daughter of Mohammad Javed who was accused of violence in prayagraj.

As per the Uttar Pradesh Police officers, Afreen Fatima’s father Javed was involved in the Prayagraj Protest. He masterminded the protest that occurred on Friday because of the BJP spokesperson Prophet’s remarks. Therefore, the house was demolished. Also, the family members are in detention. 

Furthermore, the police have arrested over 300 people from 9 districts due to their connection with Friday violence. The prophet’s remarks on TV debate surged the violence in Prayagraj and many other parts of the country.

JNU protest on Bulldozer Action

On 12 June, alleged Mohammad Javed’s home was demolished by the bulldozer. Initially, a bulldozer razed the gates and outer walls. Following that,  the house was entirely destroyed. Accordingly, this action has outraged the student union of JNU to protest against it. 

Furthermore, after the demolition of house, Afreen Fatima appealed on social media on 11 June. In the view of safety, she writes to the National Commission of Women too.

According to reports, Sumaiya, daughter of Javed said that her father refused to join the protest on Friday. Moreover, he came back home just after the Namaz. Besides, on the bulldozer action by the Yogi Government, she said, “My maternal grandfather gave the house to my mother as a gift. No money is spent by my father on land or building a house.”

Senior Congress Leader Tharoor tweeted in favour of Fatima

Shashi Tharoor, the Senior Congress leader spoke in backing of Afreen Fatima. On Twitter, he quoted, “Shocked to receive this update from JNU protest on house demolition. As a democratic country, due process is fundamental. Under which law the process or action has been done? Is the UP government out of the Indian Constitution?”
