On Thursday, the Academic Council (AC) of Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) ratified the arrangement of an apex committee to gaze into the enactment of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

With all other things, it will discuss renovating three-year BA programs into four-year programs, and initiating new four-year courses.

The JNU Teachers Association (JNUTA) and JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU) were not invited to the conference, which had previously been shown by the Vice-Chancellor and his committee for demonic practices.

However, JNUTA said that the constitutional machinery was defied. These decisions were taken without any formal consultation with existing schools and centers, leave the schools separate to receive the expected approval of the Board of Studies, and despite expressed reservations by many faculty members, JNUTA President Milap Chand Sharma said.

On the allegations, Mahapatra said, the Academic Council has decided to create only one committee. Members will of course introduce a report before taking the statement of all centers and faculty members. No decision has been taken on any topic.

In its discussion, the AC also decided to inaugurate a Special Centre for Systems Medicine (SCSM). Systems Medicine is a method of realizing the complicatedness of interactions of all molecular and cellular determinants encompassed in the pathophysiology of a disease, Mahapatra added.
