An online refresher course on environmental science has been launched by Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for teachers of colleges and universities. The event was jointly organized by the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) Varsity and Geography Department.
Approximately 100 faculty members from the various colleges and universities including Jamia are sharing in the course executed on Google Meet.
Multidisciplinary is the essence of the first online refresher course on environmental science or education. The interdisciplinary approach is supposed a reasonable option to address modern challenges faced by the society, said Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar, addressing the inaugural class.
Considering the COVID-19 scenario, Najma Akhtar further states the need for these courses. The interdisciplinary approach between biological sciences and physical sciences on the one hand and social sciences on the other, where researchers from all fields such as physics, demography, geography, chemistry, biology, economics, ecology, geology, law, and ethics will have to work together to improve technology to solve problems in the field of environmental science for the benefit of anthropology and mankind, VC explained.
