The open book examination in an online mode has begun at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University for the odd as well as final year students. The examinations in the online OBE mode begun on 18 January 2021. In the statement issued by the varsity, it said that there were no technical glitches or any complaint regarding the same from the students’ side. The online OBE examination was conducted in phases. For the Undergraduate students, the examination was conducted in the morning shift whereas for the postgraduates programs it was in the afternoon shift.

There are around 1008 students in the undergraduate courses whereas for the postgraduate courses the number of students is 1099 for the open book examination.
The count of students who will be appearing in the JMI open book exam which has been scheduled from 18 January 2021 to 19 February 2021 is 9000.

Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of the JMI, while wishing students good luck also said that keeping the health concern in view and considering the demands of parents and students, this decision of conducting OBE has been taken. She further referred to it as a big challenge to save the academic year while keeping the health concerns in mind. Online classes will start very soon for the next semester, she added.

As per the Universities guidelines for the open book exam (OBE), three hours were provided to the students taking the exam and a further one additional hour to upload the answer sheet on the respective portal. In case any issue arises while uploading the answer sheets, alternative e-mail ids were also provided.
