On Tuesday, the Placement Cell of Jamia Millia Islamia will be organizing online placement drives so that the students do not lose internship and job opportunities amid the lockdown.

The Vice-Chancellor of JMI, Najma Akhtar said announced that the placement cell of the university has recently adopted an automation platform for training and placement process and is all set with it’s portal for online placement drives.

“During the lockdown, the biggest challenge is to provide job placements and internships to students. The UPC is coordinating with many companies for this purpose. Most of the companies have adopted the working-from-home model and they are extending internships and jobs in such cases,” the university said.

Further, it added that various companies have shown interest in a virtual model of placement drives. Before the lockdown period, in the initial stage of lockdown, 52 companies extended 257 job offers to the students under pre-graduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses.

The university informed that Microsoft offered a pre-placement offer to a student pursuing B.Tech(Comp. Eng.) named Pratham Batra, a package of  41lakh annually, and also offered an internship worth 80000 rupees stipend per month to Abha Agarwal, a student of B.Tech(Elec.and comm.)

Many companies that are interested to offer jobs include Samsung R&D, Siemens, Mahindra Comviva, Vedanta Ltd, NIIT, L&T Ltd, American Express, WIPRO Technologies, IBM, L&T Construction, and a lot of others.
