Jamia Hamdard

Dr. Sarwar Beg who is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research of Jamia Hamdard has been awarded the Newton International Fellowship 2020. The fellowship is funded at the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom and later at the University of Hyderabad for an opportunity to work for two years.

The Newton International Fellowship is planned to commence in March 2021 and will proceed until March 2024. The fellowship includes contributions to subsistence allowance s for 3 years along with research and transfer expenses.

Dr. Sarwar Beg will help in making long-acting surface-engineered nanocarrier networks in the honors fellowship, for target drugs for the therapy of glioblastoma multiforme. A Jamia Hamdard statement reads that Glioblastoma multiforme or GBM is the most aggressive tumor of the brain and is the most popular primary malignant brain tumors with exceptionally poor prognosis and median survival of approximately twelve to eighteen months.

The statement says that Dr. Beg alongside the co-candidates from India and the UK will work for building up a novel treatment for the glioma tumors of the brain which can incredibly help the patient network in improving the future.

Dr. Sarwar Beg has done his Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and MPharm. (Pharmaceutics) from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The statement further added that he has achieved several young scientist awards at several national and international forums including Eudragit Award 2015; SIPRA Innovative Pharma Research Award 2016 and Bronze Medal; Novartis Biotechnology Leadership Camp Award 2012; Budding QbD and ADMET Scientist Award 2014 and 2015 and a score of Best Paper Awards to his credit.
