Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore is going to conduct the Joint Admission Test (JAM) 2021. It has released the details of JAM 2021 on the official website. The official website is jam.iisc.ac.in.

Those students who want to register for JAM 2021 can apply for it on the official website from 10 September to 15 October. IISc Bangalore will conduct the JAM 2021 on 14 February 2021. The results for the same will be declared on March 20.
According to the brochure released this year, the question paper will include questions in three types: Multiple Choice Questions (Section A), Multiple Select Questions (Section B), and Numerical Answer Type Questions (Section C).

PATTERN OF QUESTION PAPER

The first section, section A contains 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). 10 questions are of 1 mark each and 20 questions are of 2 marks each. Four choices would be given in each question with one right answer.

Section B includes 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) of two marks each. MSQ is similar to MCQ. The only difference between both is in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), there is only one correct answer whereas, in Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), there is more than one correct answer. The candidates will get score only when he or she selects all the correct answers leaving behind wrong answers.

Section C includes a total of 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. There are 10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks each. Candidates have to tick the correct answer which is a signed numeric real number. It has to be entered using a virtual numeric keypad on the monitor. Candidates will not get any choice in Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions. Students will be getting zero for not attempting questions.

THERE IS NEGATIVE MARKING ONLY IN SECTION A

In section A, negative marking will be done for wrong answers. 1/3 Mark will be deducted for wrong answer of 1 mark and 2/3 mark will be deducted for wrong answer of 2 marks. In section B, students will not get marks for partially correct answers. There is no negative marking in section B and section C.

FEE STRUCTURE OF JAM 2021

Students are not allowed to bring a calculator with them as there is no provision for using an online virtual calculator. For one exam, females, SC, ST, and PWD category candidates have to pay Rs. 750. For two exams, they have to go pay Rs. 1,050. The rest of the candidates has to pay Rs. 1,500 for one paper and Rs. 2,100 for two papers. Students having a Batchelor’s degree is allowed to admit through JAM.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF JAM 2021

General / OBC(NCL)/EWS category students should have at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 CGPA/CPI without rounding off. The subjects include while calculating CGPA or Percentage are language and subsidiaries of all the years. For SC/ST and PWD category, students should have at least 50% or 5.0 CGPA/CPI out of 10.

Joint Admission Test (JAM) is conducted for the students to get admission to MSc, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree, and many more programs at the IITs. Students can get admission in an integrated Ph.D. Degree programmes at IISc.
