The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) will be launching a 15 week online MOOCs course. The online course titled as society and media will be launched via SWAYAM which is a platform launched by Human Resource Development. IP University has begun the registration process of the course. Students willing to apply for the course can visit the official site of the university. Students can apply for the course online until July 15, 2020. The free course launched by IP University is an opportunity for the students whose studies are disrupted amid lockdown. This free online course is an adequate option for the students to grow and learn and take advantage of the situation.

MOOCs or Massive Open Online Courses, society, and media as part of the top five courses launched on the platform of SWAYAM last year. In the odd semester last year, around 1200 students enrolled for the course. Even this year, the course has been selected among 42 other courses provided by different universities. The free course launched by IP University has been launched on SWAYAM due to its popularity and quality of content.

The free course has been formulated and coordinated by the founder faculty of the University School of Mass Communication, Dr. Durgesh Tripathy.

The free online course on Society and Media is a mutual achievement of the media academicians from central and state Universities around the nation. The NTA, or the National Testing Agency, will administer the assessment for this 15-week online course. A certificate assessed by the IP University will also be granted to the student on the successful culmination of the online course.

Dr. Tripathi in a statement published by IP University stated that the students from various domains and fields should register and join in the course to progress a reasonable knowledge of the role of media agencies in our community as it has become a crucial part of our lives and impact all of us.

Dr. Durgesh Tripathi further added to his statement and said that the learners and students must take advantage of this situation. The students should grab this opportunity and enroll for this free course and gain knowledge. Students must have the knowledge of media especially one news that makes a huge impact on an individual’s life.  In the era where its hard to discover the authenticity of the news, students must learn what is true and what is fake.

Previously to make students learning and dissolving the IP University organized several webinars and online lectures. The main intention of IP University behind all such efforts is to make students learn new concepts and take advantage of the situation. Indraprastha University is embarking to provide students with the resources and opportunities to earn skills during coronavirus pandemic.
