Admission for many courses in the new academic session at IP University may be based on merit rather than entrance exams. The university has sent this proposal to the Delhi government.
At IP University, the admission for UG, PG courses is based on the entrance exams only, but this time due to Covid-19 it is getting difficult to conduct pen-paper exams for admission.
1.5 lakh students have applied for different courses of the university so far. And for a large number of students, placing an offline exam on pen-paper turn will be a big challenge.
The last date to apply for admission in IP is 31st July. So far, 1.5 lakh students have filled the forms for the academic session.
Mahesh Verma, University Professor, says that for most of the courses, there are admissions on the entrance. Admission for half of these is based on the national level test such as Joint Entrance Test (JEE), Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), Common Admission Test(cat), National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), National Aptitude Test In Architecture (NATA).
For this, they are following the same, for the course for which they provide the Common Entrance Test (CET), they are exploring that like other universities, to do these entrance exams on the basis of qualification marks.
VC said that we will wait for the approval from the government, we will have to get approval from the Chancellor as well, it has been written in our act that the admission will be for the Common Entrance Test only. Apart from this, the new Guideline will also come to unlock, only then a final decision will be made.
IP UNIVERSITY EXTENDED ADMISSION DATE TILL JULY 31
Ba, B.Com, B.Ed, M.Ed, M.tech, MBA along with MSC provides entrance for the course. Due to Covid-19, they are not able to make any decision for university entrance yet.
At IP University there are approximately 94 programs, for which 36 thousand seats are available. Admission for 67 courses will be based on CET. Admission will be based on the qualifying exam for 12 programs and for 13 program admission will be based on the national level test.
