IP College Protest: Indraprastha College of Women (IPCW) conducted the annual fest ‘Shruti’23’ on 28 March 2023. During the fest, a group of boys entered the fest by climbing the walls of the college and harassed the girl students. Thus, this incident spoiled the healthy environment of the annual event.

Further, students said that they heard the phrases ‘Miranda IP dono humara hai’, and ‘Miranda nahi Chorda toh IP bhi nahi Chordege’. In English translation, it means ‘Miranda and IP are both ours’, ‘We didn’t leave Miranda and we won’t leave IP’. 

Due to such behaviour of students at the annual fest of IP, students come up with the protest. On 31 March, IP college protest and demanded the resignation of the college principal. Also a student alleged that the administration had threatened her family.

IP College Protest: A student received a threat call 

A second-year IPCW student, Shambhavi Chaudhary alleged that she received a call at 11 AM from someone from the administration. She said, “My parents are threatened by saying that your daughter has been part of the protest, and an FIR can be filed against her. Also, she can be arrested in future, so this is your responsibility to keep her safe. We are just warning you and your daughter to get out of this matter soon.”

Furthermore, she added that she explained to her parents and told them not to worry because around 200 students are part of the protest. And the administration can’t take action against everybody. 

All India Students’ Association (AISA) also protests and alleges, “The IPCW administration has sent a notice to AISA north zonal convenor and IPCW student Shambhavi Chaudhary. Here, we demand cancellation of the notice as soon as possible.”

The protest began in the morning and continued till evening. They marched inside the campus in the morning. And demands strict action against the men who allegedly entered the premises and harassed the students. Moreover, they ask for the principal Poonam Kumria to address the problem and resign from her post.
