In the prestigious Financial Times (FT) Global MBA Ranking 2021, IIM Calcutta has secured 44th rank globally for its one-year full-time MBAEx program. An institute statement said on Tuesday that the institute has secured the third position among the 5 Indian Business schools listed in the rankings which reflects the high quality of the program and several other factors which include employment opportunities post-completion, salaries earned, and research capabilities.
Anju Seth, Director of IIM Calcutta said that she wanted to congratulate and thank the administration, faculty, and students who had bestowed their trust in them and had collectively helped to create a conducive academic environment in one of the most challenging years they had ever experienced. Seth said that global recognition such as this one motivates them to continue working towards their vision of promoting an internationally diverse learning experience.
She added that the global education sector was shocked to the core in the wake of the pandemic in 2020. The physical education delivery model as they knew, had come to a standstill and most countries like theirs were still struggling to get back on their feet and to bring back students safely into the classrooms. They have however emerged strongly in adversity by introducing a blended model for learning continuity. In the new normal, education will be about non-stop learning and resilience.
IIM Calcutta performed significantly well among the parameters that the ranking focused on vis a vis its Indian compatriots in categories including female students percentage, career progress, and inclusion of international makeup of its faculty. Professor Manju Jaiswal while commenting on the recognition, said that the rankings highlight the leadership of IIM Calcutta in delivering global management education.

Jaiswal said that the timely responses to the change in the mode of teaching in the previous year to virtual reflect their preparedness and resilience towards their students’ safety and learning and the effort has certainly paid off well.
The other parameters that are considered for the rakings are aims achieved by alumni on taking the course, value for money, employability among students within three months of completing the course, career services, international student in-take, the involvement of women in the institute’s board, international course experience ranking, and international mobility ranking.
