IMPART TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN MOTHER TONGUE: EDUCATION MINISTER

The Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ introduces technical education in the mother tongue. The Education Ministry went on to set up a task force for the same. It will carefully design a roadmap on imparting technical education which will include engineering courses as well.

In a high-level meeting chaired by the Union Education Minister, this decision was taken.
He said that this meeting work towards achieving the vision of the Prime Minister. It aims to allow the students to pursue professional courses in mother tongue like engineering, medical, and law. There will be no strictness in choosing a language but provisions would be available.

Thus, no student will be deprived of these courses just because of language constraints. The bright students who are not fluent in English can also make their career in this field.
He added that a task force is appointed to impart technical education in the mother tongue. For the same, a roadmap will be put forward.

The task force will be headed by the Secretary, Higher Education, Amit Khare. He will listen to the suggestions of various stakeholders. Accordingly, a report will be made and submitted.

The meeting’s agenda was to discuss the structure and implementation of the new Education Policy (NEP). In the meeting, various high officials like Higher Education Secretary, Academicians, IIT Directors, and senior officials marked their presence.

It decided that for the next academic year premier institutes like Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) will offer engineering courses in their mother tongue. Nishank headed a review meeting last week where this decision was taken.

A senior ministry official said that to impart technical education in mother tongue a few institutions are shortlisted. It includes few Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology. He added that a seminal decision was taken to start technical education which especially includes engineering courses. These courses will be imparted in the mother tongue.
