On Thursday, officials said that despite the current crisis in the job market due to the Covid-19 epidemic, students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna, (IIT Patna) have managed to get lucrative job offers from domestic and foreign companies.

The IIT Patna determined the first placement drive, during which half of the final year BTech students were hired on 30 December.

Breaking the record, a final-year BTech student has offered a job from a claimed cell of a US-based company, IIT Patna, with a salary of Rs 52.50 lakh per year.

IIT-P’s training and placement officer Kripa Shankar Singh said that the student has been asked to join the firm’s domestic branch in July. Earlier, another student received Rs 47 lakhs in the annual package from DE Shaw. While another offered Rs 43.50 lakh in early December.

Approximately 50% of qualified BTech students are placed in the first placement drive.
