A fellowship in Artificial Intelligence for Social Good has been launched by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras’ Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and AI (RBCDSAI) in collaboration with Narayanan Family Foundation today. Attracting early career AI researchers with exceptional promise to RBCDSAI, IIT Madras is the objective of this fellowship.

Who all can apply for this fellowship IIT MADRAS fellowship?

  • Recent Ph.D. graduates,
  • early-career researchers in computer science,
  • computational and data sciences,
  • biomedical sciences,
  • management,
  • finance, and
  • other engineering branches

For a non-renewable term of three years, the fellows will get a salary of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (approximately US$ 20,000 – 24,000) per year depending on the experience (equivalent to Assistant Professor’s starting salary at any IIT) as a remuneration. This fellowship is funded by Narayanan Family Foundation. Fellows will also be eligible for up to Rs 30 lakh approx (USD 40,000) as a one-time research grant.

Mr. Srinivas Narayanan, Co-Founder, Narayanan Family Foundation, while addressing the event, said that they believed that this program, through the advancement of AI, can bring significant benefits for society.

Prof B. Ravindran, Head, RBCDSAI-IIT Madras said that this fellowship is designed to enable outstanding candidates to contribute in a significant way to socially relevant AI research and also to establish their independent research profile.
