The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Madras) has received the most innovative institute award of the year. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) awarded the institute the Most Innovative Institute of the Year ‘award for its innovations in the areas of healthcare, technology, other fields.

The honor was offered for an innovations-VITALSENS platform for clinical-grade wearable health monitoring, with ‘Wireless Continuous Multi-Parameter Patient Monitoring Device’ developed by Mohansankar Shivaprakasam, Head of Faculty, Healthcare Technology Innovation Center (HTIC) and related Smartphone app.

Other awards are for Arise, Proc. Sujata Srinivasan, Head of Faculty, India’s first permanent wheelchair, is the first indigenous microprocessor by the TTK Center for Rehabilitation Research and Equipment Development and Power, named Prof. V. Kamakoti is developed by the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
