IIT Kharagpur alumni along with their families have contributed more than 2 crores. Hence, with the help of this fund, eight new student grants are set up. These grants are for the upcoming autumn session that will start in August 2021.
The exact value of the grant is valued at around 2.25 crore INR. Eight of the IIT Kharagpur alumni and their families have made these generous contributions. Hence, they are assisting the students on merit-cum-means scholarships as well as merit-based awards for their academics and research.
What are these grants for?
These grants are for the students of IIT Kharagpur. Hence, funding for all undergraduate and postgraduate students will be made available. The scholarships also aim to support female students. All the departments including Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Healthcare, Mechanical Engineering, and more will get benefited.
The contributions of the IIT Kharagpur alumni:
The IIT Kharagpur alumni who donated signed a virtual MoU. Hence, this took place in a recently concluded event. The alumni donors expected a range of dynamic ideas. Hence, this was the driving factor that made them contribute to these scholarships and awards. Therefore, this inspired the spirit of giving back to society for the greater good.

Professor VK Tewari, the director of IIT Kharagpur appreciated this generous contribution. Hence, the proactive enthusiasm towards the institute’s welfare by the alumni was highly appreciated. The director also spoke about the uniqueness of the vast plethora of disciplines taught. Also, he welcomed the alumni to contribute further and participate in global outreach programs.
DIGITAL SUPPORT TO BE PROVIDED BY IIT DELHI TO STUDENTS FROM WEAKER SECTIONS
65 lakhs from this grant will be dedicated to female undergraduate students for 15 years. Also, NEP 2020 policies and holistic developments will be undertaken.
