As soon as the investigation was completed on Tuesday, the report prepared by IIT Kanpur was sent to Ghazipur Police. On Thursday, when the sample came to IIT Kanpur, the professor was unable to decide whether to get the investigation done from the Department of Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

However, Director Prof. Abhay Karandikar handed over the investigation to the Mechanical Engineering Department. After this, the investigation was completed on Tuesday and the report was sent to Ghazipur Police. The director of IIT confirmed the sending of the full and final report.

Police had arrested eight people, including 340 grams of suspected metal, the world’s second most expensive radioactive substance, in the early hours of Thursday. The metal seized was being told as californium, the value of which was being estimated in billions.
