On Thursday, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and Mizoram University signed an MoU for promoting the exchange of students, the growth of teaching programs, and R&D activities. Mizoram University Vice-Chancellor KRS Sambasiva Rao and IITG Director TG Sitharam signed the memorandum of understanding recently.

Mr. Sitharam said in a statement that this is an important day for both the institutions to progress the academic and research collaborations and to fulfill the larger cause of North East India.

Mizoram University and IIT Guwahati will enable cooperation among their departments and research facilities, faculty members. He said both the institutes will work together through lectures, visits of faculty members, and seminars.

Mr. Sitharam said students would be motivated to attend courses provided by the partner universities and collaborate in research programs.

Mr. Rao further added that the partnership will empower a useful opportunity for learners of Mizoram University. It will enable cooperation in teaching and research areas of common interests. It will assist candidates to get susceptibility to advanced instruments and installations convenient at IITG.

IIT Guwahati, established in 1994, is well-equipped with world-class infrastructure. Its global research ranking is 41. Mizoram University became functional in 2001. It was accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC in 2014 and 2019.
