The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Guwahati has launched a new Centre. The institute has come up with the Centre for Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems(CICPS).
The center aims to develop at least five indigenous technologies in a year. The CICPS will also offer a master`s program in AI and Robotics. However, IIT Guwahati`s new program is oriented towards addressing advanced engineering topics.
Moreover, graduates will be able to solve complex problems in research and practice by the use of scientific methods. But, the new program will focus more particularly on industrial automation to improve productivity.

MORE ABOUT THE LAUNCHED CENTRE IN IIT GUWAHATI
The Centre for Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems(CICPS) will have six major components. They are technology development, the center of excellence, human resource development, technology business incubation, and MTech in robotics and AI.
The Human resource development and skill development programs of CICPS. They will give fellowships in doctoral, post-doctoral, and faculties. Several skill development workshops can organize through these programs.
Currently, 13 Ph.D. students and 18 MTech students are in the CICPS. They will work on the technology for underwater research. Moreover, the Centre makes up a total of nine laboratories of the different fields for their research.
IIT GUWAHATI DIRECTOR ON THR LAUNCH OF NEW CENTRE
Professor T.G Sitharam, Director IIT Guwahati addressed the inaugural function of the CICPS. He said the Centre will majorly focus to develop technologies for underwater exploration. As this field is an untouched area in research.
Moreover, the new Centre has a total of 41 members of different departments working in it, he said. Currently, the Technology Innovation Hub(TIH) of IIT Guwahati will fund the new Centre for the first five years, as later CICPS can sustain itself.
