An institute statement said on Saturday that the MBA batch 2021 of IIM Calcutta registered 100 % placement as all the 467 candidates who enroll in the process got jobs. A release by the Jamshedpur-based institute said that the MBA batch 2021 of the XLRI-Xavier School of Management also earned a similar success as all the 358 candidates who apply for placements got jobs.
The virtually-held placement week at IIM Calcutta ended on 3 March 2021, recorded over 530 job proposals for the 467 candidates.
In total, 172 companies contributed to the final placement process, with the median and average salaries rising to INR 29 lakh and INR 27 lakh per annum respectively, it stated.
However, the consulting sector appeared as the top recruiter, with 149 candidates or 32 % of the total number opting for them.
A total of 90 candidates were appointed by top asset management, investment banking, and private equity venture capital companies. Moreover, the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic deceleration was noticeable in some sectors.

Whereas finance and consulting roles resumed comprising approximately half of the placements as seen in last years, marketing roles and general management came down from 30% previous year 2020 to 15 % in 2021.

The last process of recruitment at XLRI observe the enrollment of 108 recruiters, with 370 domestic and international opportunities. The median salary proposed to the batch stood at INR 23 lakh per annum and the average salary improved to INR 25.08 lakh per annum.
