From the July 2020 session, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has undertaken a certificate programme in Solid Waste Management to conquer the issues of waste management.

Eligibility for certificate programme
Aspirants who have cleared the class 12 or halfway examinations from an identified board are qualified to apply for this program at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
According to the varsity, the goal of the program is to sharpen the students about the issue of waste generation and its effect on nature and human wellbeing. It additionally expects to acquaint the students with existing enactment, information, and works on in regards to Waste Management in the nation.
Duration for certificate programme
The interval of the program is at least a half year and a limit of two years. It is offered through separation learning mode. The mode of guidance is Hindi.
The program is distributed into 3 courses – course 1: Introduction to Solid Waste Management, course 2: Municipal, Agricultural, Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management, and course 3: Plastic, E-squander, Biomedical and Construction, and Demolition Waste administration. All courses will retain 6 credits.
