The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today announced the launch of an open and distance certificate programme in gender, agriculture, and sustainable development.

Students with a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for the course, which lasts six months. On March 15, the online application window will close.

The initiative which is a certificate course, according to IGNOU, will discuss key issues related to women’s involvement in agriculture and farming. “Economic transition and growth impact men and women differently, necessitating strong government intervention to close gender gaps. In this context, agriculture’s planning and policy processes must consider sustainability, as well as women’s contribution to sustainability, as per IGNOU statement.
