ICMR Vaccine Portal is going to open shortly and is working for it. In a first in India, the nation’s top medical research body is working to create an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) vaccine portal. It acts as a depot for all information pertained to vaccine development in India.

By the end of next week, ICMR will open the portal for public use. Initially, the portal will display information regarding the coronavirus vaccine in India. However, with time, the web portal will show up with data available for all the vaccines used to curb various diseases.

People can access every little information regarding COVID. Presently, the updates are dispersed. Therefore, after the guidance from DG, we are working to develop this ICMR vaccine outlet. Initially, the website will show data for the COVID-19 vaccine. But, in further, we will revise the website with input for other vaccines too as ICMR is an institute of biomedical research. Dr. Samiran Panda, Scientist G & head of Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases (ECD), Division at ICMR asserted.

The central government is collaborating with ICMR to fight against COVID.  Wearing masks,  hand sanitizing, and other social distancing norms help to prevent the disease. Meanwhile, vaccine development is also very essential. We will put all the information regarding the vaccine on the portal.

Three COVID vaccine candidates are in India which are in different stages of the clinical study.

The first is–inactivated virus vaccine, which is the ‘Bharat Biotech Vaccine’, developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Likewise, the second is a ‘DNA vaccine’ of Zydus Cadila.
The third is a ‘Recombinant Oxford University vaccine’ generated by Serum Institute of India (SII) got clearance from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI). Due to the permission, they can conduct phase 2 and phase 3 clinical study in the country.

According to the scientist, the ICMR vaccine portal will carry sections like COVID 19 vaccine, Also, India’s International Symposium and FAQ for the general public. The portal will display the information in regional languages as well.

The portal will also have WHO reports.  The ICMR will take these reports from other websites.

So far, India has noted 29,75,702 coronavirus cases with 55,794 people died due to the infection. In the last 24 hours, the country has seen 69,878 cases and 945 deaths as per the Union Health Ministry data.
