LATEST UPDATES OF NIFT ENTRANCE EXAM 2021
The NIFT counseling online registration has been started by the National Institute of Fashion Technology for admission to postgraduate and undergraduate courses. Those candidates who have qualified the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) can register online for the counseling. The last date for registration is August 13, 2020. Candidates have to log in at the NIFT website, to register online, using the date of birth and form number.
In the fourth week of October 2020, the official notification for the NIFT entrance exam 2021 will be released tentatively. The written exam for the PG and UG courses will be conducted in the third week of January 2021.

PATTERN AND SYLLABUS OF THE EXAM

For admission into the Bachelor of Design course, the written exam consists of GAT and CAT. If you qualify in the written examination, you will be called for a situation test.
For admission into the Bachelor of Fashion Technology, only the GAT written exam is conducted.
For admission into the Master of Design course, you will have to appear for the GAT and Cat exam that will be followed by Personal Interview and Group discussion.
For admission into the Master of Fashion Technology course, you will have to appear for the GAT and CAT (written) exam that will be followed by a personal interview and group discussion.
THE GAT PATTERN FOR PG AND UG DESIGN PROGRAMS
For the Bachelor of Design course, the question paper is in the English language and you have to answer 100 questions in 120 minutes.
There will be 25 questions from English Comprehension, 25 from Communication ability, 20 from quantitative ability, 15 from analytical ability, and 15 from General knowledge ad current affairs.
For Master is this course, you will receive the question paper in the English language in which you will be required to answer 120 questions in 120 minutes.
There will be 30 questions from English Comprehension, 30 from Communication ability, 20 from quantitative ability, 25 from analytical ability, and 15 from general knowledge and current affairs.
GAT PATTERN FOR PG AND UG IN FASHION TECHNOLOGY AND MASTER OF FASHION MANAGEMENT
For the bachelor of fashion technology course, you will be given the question paper in the English language. 150 questions will be given to you which you will have to answer in 180 minutes.
There will be 45 questions from communication ability and English comprehension, 25 from analytical and logical ability, 30 from quantitative ability, 25 from general knowledge and current affairs, and 25 from a case study.
For the master’s in fashion technology course, 150 questions will be given to you in the English language which you have to solve in 180 minutes.

PATTERN OF THE CAT
This test is conducted for both the PG and UG programs to test the innovative use of color, intuitive ability, illustration skills, and observation power in design ability and concept development.
THE SITUATION TEST
The candidate’s innovative ability and skills of handling material in a given situation are evaluated in the situation test. Creating a model along with a short write-up explaining the concept is required of the candidates. The model will be based on creativity, innovation, color scheme, space visualization, and overall presentation.
PERSONAL INTERVIEWS AND GROUP DISCUSSIONS
The GD and PI rounds are for those candidates who have qualified the written examinations. a case study will be assigned to the candidate on which a discussion will be based for 15 to 20 minutes that comprise the GD. Here, the candidates will be assessed on problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, leadership qualities, etc. In the personal interview, a candidate is evaluated on career orientation, general awareness, communication, aptitude, etc.

The latest syllabus for NIFT Entrance exam 2021 is as follows:
In quantitative ability, you will be asked questions from addition, multiplication, division, rate of interest, fractions, ratio and proportion, percentage, distance, and work and task.
In English Comprehension and Communication ability, you will be asked questions from one-word substitution, reading comprehension, synonyms, words with corresponding meanings, antonyms, plural, singular, idioms, correct spellings, and phrases.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR UG COURSES
As on October 1, 2020, a candidate should not be of more than 23 years of age. For the reserved category students, however, there is an age relaxation of five years. The candidate should have also passed the 12th board exams or any other equivalent exam from a board that is recognized. For the Bachelor program in Fashion Technology, a diploma in engineering is required.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PG COURSES
Candidates should have done graduation in any discipline from a recognized university to pursue a Master of Design, and master of fashion management programs. Those candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible to appear in the exam. Candidates should have done a bachelor in fashion technology to pursue a master’s in fashion technology from NIFT or B. Tech from a recognized University.
There has not been any age limit set for the NIFT exam.
APPLICATION PROCESS FOR NIFT EXAM 2021
The application form will be available online for the candidates from the third week of October 2020. Here is a step by step guide on how to apply for NIFT Entrance exam 2021:
• The official website of the NIFT admission must be visited by the candidate.
• To create a log-in button, click on ‘Fresh candidate’.
• Enter all the required information.
• A candidate will be given registration id along with login id and password upon successful registration.
• To complete the registration process, log in to your account.
• Fill in all the remaining details.
• Once you have filled the form, click submit.
• After submission, take a print out of the completed application form.
APPLICATION FEE
The application fee for the General or OBC category is Rs 2000 while for SC/ST/PwD is Rs 1000. The application fee can be paid through Demand Draft or debit card or credit card.
RESERVATIONS OF SEATS IN NIFT
There are 15% seats reserved for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (non-creamy layer), 10% for GEN-EWS, and 5% for persons with disability.
RESULT DECLARATION
The official NIFT website will be used for the announcement of the result. The results can be checked by the candidates using their login id and password. The results will be declared twice- once after the written test and then after the situation test. On the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in the group discussions and the written test, the final merit list will be prepared. The candidate will be called after this for counseling where the seats will be allocated in different colleges.
NIFT COUNSELING
The online application process for counseling for admission to postgraduate and undergraduate courses has been started by NIFT.
After the interview stage, the NIFT counseling process is conducted for those students who are successful. The official website contains all the details of the counseling process.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION
The original certificates and mark sheets of class 12 are required. The mark sheet of the graduation examination must be carried by students seeking postgraduate admission. The mark sheet of all the previous years must be carried by the students who are in the final year of qualifying exams.
The proof of date of birth is also required along with the category certificate.
A bank draft of requisite fee in favor of NIFT HO is also required.
The income certificate of parents, medical fitness certificate, undertaking for a refund of the fee, undertaking for anti-ragging, an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs 10 in case the result of the qualifying exam is pending.
