HC asks Delhi University to respond to Plea alleging unfairness DU LLB Admissions

DU LLB Admissions 2022: Delhi High Court (HC) issues a notice to Delhi University to respond to a student plea alleging arbitrariness in the law admissions of session 2022-23. Moreover, Justice Vikash Mahajan instructed that all admissions done in law courses after 21 December will be subject to the outcome of the petition. And this matter is listed further for the next hearing on 23 January 2022.

A student who sit the examination for LLB entrance filed the petition and said that reserved categories who score more than others were not moved to the general category in the merit list. Therefore, it violates the reservation rules and results in no admission of students from reserved categories.

Students who were eligible for seats under the backward category can’t secure seats due to unfairness in seat allocation of DU LLB admissions. Moreover, this allocation is point less and inhibits reserved category students from taking admission to Delhi University.

As per the plea, the admission list doesn’t include students from OBC, SC, and ST in the merit list. Despite having more marks than unreserved category students, the list doesn’t place those students into the general category. It is preventing the reserved category students from competing in the general quota. And other students couldn’t make it to the reserved list. Consequently, it’s a double loss.

DU LLB Admissions 2022- Violating the Reservation Rules

The open quota or unreserved category is open for all, meaning any candidate from the unreserved or reserved category can compete. But as the first DU admission list was released for LLB admissions, it seems the university violates the rule.

Further, as per plea the Delhi University has adopted unlawful ways in law admissions. The DU seat matrix is an arbitrary, unfair, egregious infringement of constitutional rights provided to reserved category students.
