The IIM CAT 2020 will be held on November 29 which is being conducted by IIM Indore. For admissions to B-schools across the country including the IIMs, the IIM CAT 2020 will be held in three sessions. From across the country, a total of 2,27,835 candidates had registered to appear for the exam. The exam will be in English and computer-based. There will be some multiple-choice questions in the exam. There will be negative marking for all the MCQs while for other questions, no marks will be deducted for the wrong answers this year. The time duration has been revised to 120 minutes, this year, and 40 minutes for each section.
Special instructions including masks, social distancing, and sanitizers need to be followed since the exam will be held amid a pandemic.
Following are the rules one must keep in mind while appearing for the CAT 2020 exam:
Entry time: The first session of the exam will begin at 8:30 am, the second session will begin at 12:30 pm, and the last session will begin at 4:30 pm. To allow time for frisking, verification, and staggered entry, candidates need to reach the exam center in advance. For the forenoon session, the reporting time is 7 am IST, for the afternoon session, the reporting time is 11 am, and for the evening session, the reporting time is 3 pm.
Admit card: The candidates are required to print their admit card on an A4 size paper, preferably using a laser printer for this. Only if the candidate’s photograph and signature images are legibly printed will the admit card be valid. All information mentioned on the admit card needs to be checked by the candidates. For verification, the students will also have to bring an original id proof along to the exam center. To check the location of the exam lab from the barcode desk, one can use the barcode printed on the admit card.
Dress code: Inside the exam lab, socks, sweaters/cardigans, plain pullovers without any pockets are allowed. As a part of the clothing, there should be no jewelry or piece of metal. The candidates who have a pacemaker, metal implant, etc. need to bring a supporting medical certificate with themselves at the test center. Inside the exam lab, shoes, or other footwear with thick soles and garments with large buttons are not allowed.

Before exam formalities: Candidates will have to register, document verification, go through frisking, and an IRIS and photo registration after entry. When the invigilator would inform the candidates to log in to the console, the exam will begin.
During the exam: the clock would start as soon as the candidates start answering a section. The timer would reach zero on completion of 40 minutes, the current section would be auto-submitted, and the candidate would be automatically moved to the next section. The writing pad with all intact pages will be asked by the candidates to return post completion of the exam, it will be given only once.
