Dr. Rama, the principal of Hansraj College said that the gaushala program will be expanded if the research turns out to be beneficial. Thus, this gaushala center will do in-depth research on various aspects of a cow. Also, she added that the program will provide pure ghee and milk for the monthly havan conducted in the college.
Hansraj College is. DAV Trust College with its base in Arya Samaj. Hence, as per traditions, they have to hold havan every month attended by all staff members and students. So, this gaushala can be of help in providing ghee and milk. Also, the college will then have pure milk and curd for hostel students. Other colleges are also trying to implement similar initiatives.
Teachers say that no college forum or staff meeting was organized for this research activity. Also, the majority of them thought of it as a joke as Hansraj is a public-funded secular institution.
Also, students are angry as they find it disrespectful that a gaushala is built on the land reserved for a female hostel. Currently, the college has one male hostel and no place for female accommodation. Hence, students are retaliating that the college is promoting cows instead of struggling female students.
