IS IT BETTER TO CONDUCT EXAMS?

Due to COVID-19, all the educational institutions are closed from the end of March. As it is important to continue the academic schedule without any wastage of education for the students, the foremost concern of all the institutions and universities is exams. How exams would be conducted? When it would be better to conduct exams? As the prevailing conditions are not suitable for students to appear for classroom examinations, in which mode exams would be conducted? And many more unanswered questions.
As it is not possible to conduct classroom exams and it is important to continue the academic session without any delay for further admission, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has decided to cancel exams for first and second-year students of the undergraduate course.

IP University Plans To Have A Term-End Paper From June, With Innovative Exam Pattern

ONE TIME DECISION TAKEN BY THE UNIVERSITY

For final year students, they will have to appear for exams from July 10. IP University is conducting pen and paper exams for the final year students. IP university faced a lot of criticism and was compelled to take off its original date sheet due to the backlash from students. This is a one-time decision that IP university took. Students would be promoted to the next class on the basis of a 50-50 formula like Delhi University did. Students would be promoted on the basis of previous semester results and internal assessment. The university will hold practical exams after theory exams and dates will be announced later.

DECISIONS REGARDING EXAMS AND EXAMINATION CENTRE

IP university has also taken some decisions regarding examination centers. They have decided that the examination center would be the same college in which the student enrolled. According to the new circular, exams will be conducted into two shifts of two hours each. This decision is taken as per the University Grants Commission guidelines. Moreover, exams will be conducted on weekends, that is Saturday and Sunday. Last week, IP University released the date sheet of BBA LLB, BA LLB, and BA. Their end terms exams were going to be held in offline mode between 22 June and 14 July. But, the university withdrew the date sheet on the same date because of student protests.

EXAMS IN OFFLINE MODE

But, it is confirmed by the IP University that intermediate students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be promoted in the next class on the basis of their previous semester result and their current semester internal assessment. Final year students have to give their exams in offline mode. Students are also protesting against the decision of final year students. According to IP University, if the future conditions of coronavirus do not improve, then the university may conduct laboratory exams or practical exams or any online assignment. If the University will not be feasible to take the offline exam, any other online alternative will be followed by the university.
