DUTA WRITES TO DELHI CM SEEKING RELEASE OF GRANTS

Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on 22nd February wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking discharge of the fourth installment of funds to 12 Delhi government-funded colleges of Delhi University.

In a letter to Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi CM), Rajib Ray, DUTA President said that unreasoned and inordinate delays in the release of funds leave a crippling effect on colleges and are completely unacceptable, more so in the current situation when Delhi University employees are combatting health issues. It is extremely awful to see that employees have had to take the matter to the courts to get their salaries released.

DUTA DISCUSSES ABOUT NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES WITH DELHI GOVERNMENT

The letter while demanding the release of grants stated that the grants sanctioned to date by the Delhi government are not adequate to even meet the daily requirements of making payments of DU professors’ salaries and pension. The letter demanded an immediate end to the crises in these 12 Delhi University Colleges which has prevailed for over a year.

Mr. Ray (DUTA President) stated that a few new courses were sanctioned in Delhi University while corresponding teaching posts were not. He added that this has compelled DU colleges to hire guest faculty or ad-hoc teachers in order to cater to the requirements of the new courses. He further appealed to the Delhi government to release the grants immediately.
