Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA) on 23rd March held a protest at DU Vice-Chancellor’s office, demanding withdrawal of the document ‘Pattern of Assistance’ and cancellation of the appointment of senior administrative officers to Delhi government-funded 12 Delhi University colleges.
The DU Teachers Association had also announced to continue the protest and University shut down which started on 11th March until their demands are fulfilled. It has earlier contended that through the Pattern of Assistance document issued by the Directorate of Higher Education the Delhi government is trying to find ways of disaffiliating Delhi government-funded colleges from DU. The issued Patter of Assistance document pertains to the 12 Delhi government colleges of Delhi University.
The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) in a statement issued on 18th March said that this move of the Delhi government is wrong. DUTA further raised demands to rescind an order from the finance department that gives senior administrative officers supplementary charge of the 12 Delhi government-funded colleges of Delhi University.
Delhi University holds no such provisions and the Office of the Principal is more than capable and adequate of handling the administrative functioning of all 12 DU colleges, it said.
The DUTA alleged that the city government is trying to take the 12 Delhi University colleges and run them by privatizing them to escape government funding. It further asked for assurance that the government will release the grants-in-aid on time in the future.
