In view of the covid-19 crisis, the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) requests for an extension in the deadlines of assignments. Hence, the teachers highlighted the fact that DU students are unavailable to finish and submit their internal assessment assignments in time. The covid-19 infection has spread in almost every house and many teachers and students are themselves suffering or helping their families. Also, many have lost their lives battling it. Thus, the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has written to the DU Vice-Chancellor seeking some relaxation in deadlines.

What does the DUTA want?

The teachers envision that academic sessions of first-year students can be suspended further. Due to the student’s constant request, academic classes had already been superseded for 2 weeks. Also, the semester-end examination for the continuing students is canceled. So, DUTA wants the same fate and relief for the other students and teachers. The first-year DU students follow a different academic calendar. Thus, DUTA wants to change the deadlines and exam dates in it.

It is a justifiable demand as exams and assessments cannot be prioritized over health. No student or teacher can focus with so much stress and problems. The DU students are also demanding the cancellation of exams along with teachers.

Proposal of DUTA for the final semester students:

Final year exams are vital. Therefore, the teachers suggest that an alternate mode of assessment can be adopted. Hence, this will endure timely results and no hustle. DUTA also requests the University administration to work and declare all the pending fifth-semester results. Hence, this will assist in delivering degrees to 3rd-year final students in time.
