Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) elections are to be held on Friday, 26th November 2021. Hence, the left-backed Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF) is trying to retain the post of President yet again. DTF had been constantly winning the elections for the last 5 years. Also, the absorption of teachers is on the agenda of every party.

DUTA elections: A new ad-hoc teacher’s front formed

For the DUTA elections 2021, all the ad-hoc teachers have formed the Ad-hoc Teachers’ Front. Hence, this will be represented by Shabana Azmi, the ad-hoc teacher in the political science department of Zakir Husain College. Azmi will be contesting for the post of Delhi University Teachers Association President. Also, their most important demand is for a one-time absorption of all ad-hoc teachers into DU.

The 5-time winning party, Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) has fielded Abha Dev Habib for the post of DUTA president. Also, for the posts of DUTA executives, Jitendra Kumar Meena, Nandita Narain, and Rudrashish Chakraborty, and VS Dixit are contesting. Even their poll planks include the demand for one-time regulation for absorption of all ad-hoc teachers. Also, they demand to bring back the four-year undergraduate program and implement NEP.

As for the right-wing National Democratic Teachers’ Front (NDTF), they have fielded their previous year’s runner up. Hence, AK Bhagi will be contesting this year also. In the 2020 DUTA elections, Bhagi lost to the current president Rajib Ray by a slim margin. Even the NDTF is pitching for the one-time absorption of all ad-hoc teachers. Also, they stand for the 12 Delhi government DU colleges against the non-payment of funds.
