DU’S EXECUTIVE COUNCIL APPROVES CUCET FROM 2022

DU’s Executive Council, on December 17, approved the commencement of the common entrance test (CET). Thus, all the UG and PG courses in the central universities may conduct CUCET from the academic year 2022-23 via National Testing Agency (NTA).

Previously on December 10, the academic council of DU had approved the commencement of CUCET as one of the criteria for pursuing admissions. The Ministry of Education wanted to implement CET from 2021 itself. However, they were unable to do so because of covid-19.

DU’s Executive Council starts working for CET:

The DU’s Executive Council has already started to work on the modality of the CUCET exams. Hence, they are all set for commencement in the new admission season of 2022. Also, DU’s Executive Council approved paid maternity leave for all ad-hoc teachers and even contractual staff.

The statement of the University’s Grant Commission (UGC) on CUCET:

UGC stated that the common entrance test (CET) may be conducted from the academic year 2022-2023 through the National Testing Agency (NTA). Also, the UGC said that for admissions in the Ph.D. program, NET scores shall be used wherever required. Like the JEE and NEET Exams conducted by NTA, CUCET will also be conducted in 13 different languages. Hence, this was mentioned clearly in a letter sent to VCs of all universities.

DU EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO DECIDE ON PAYMENT TO INTERNATIONAL ADJUNCT FACULTY

The UGC also added that the Common Entrance Test (CET) will be adopted only by the willing state/ private universities. The proposal of CET through the NTA was given in NEP 2020. Thus, CUCET will serve as a premier, expert, and autonomous testing body. It will also offer high-quality common aptitude tests and even specialized common subject exams in streams like science, humanities, arts, languages, and vocational subjects.
