DU’s 97th Convocation was successfully held today, i.e. 27th February 2021. Hence, Delhi University became the first Indian university to award digital degrees to students. P C Joshi, the Vice-Chancellor says that 1,78,719 students were awarded degrees today.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, DU’s 97th conviction was conducted in a hybrid mode. Therefore, it incorporated both online as well as physical mode. In the convocation ceremony, digital degrees, medals, and prizes were given to students.
With a single button click, lakhs of students received their degrees. Hence, DU’s 97th convocation ceremony awarded Bachelors and Masters degree in nearly all disciplines via email. Therefore, this was a historic move for Delhi University.
Ramesh Pokhriyal, the Central Education Minister was the chief guest for today. Hence, he awarded more than 36 prizes and 156 medals to students. Also, more than 600 doctorate degrees and 44 DM / M CH degrees were awarded. However, the recipients of these degrees were physically present.
Despite being in the pandemic year, DU kept on setting new hallmarks. Hence, the institution emerged as a front runner in the field of digital education. The smooth transition from physical classes to online study was remarkable. Delhi University also successfully conducted its contactless online admissions and online Open Book Exams.
Hence, it was a great achievement for DU to take OBE in tandem with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines. Therefore, the exams took place twice and without any hindrance. The holistic development of students was ensured by the stakeholders. Also, the Vice-Chancellor claims that the varsity prioritized student’s safety.
Hence, the education minister congratulated all the students and their parents. He further motivated them to work hard and be ready for any challenge. Pokhriyal also praised the digital concept of DU”s 97th convocation. He says, “This is the digital India we always talk about.”
