DU Women gets extensive security arrangements from the Delhi Police and DTC. Holi is a festival full of colors and celebration. However, women’s safety issues associated with holi make it a day requiring vigilance and extensive security mobilization. Therefore, security arrangements near the University area for the DU Women have been broadened over a week now.
A huge team incorporating the proctor’s office, administrations from all Delhi University affiliated colleges, the Delhi Police, and the DTC were made. Hence, the team was responsible for the extensive security of the women.

The security measures applied for DU Women:
Vikas Gupta, the DU registrar states that elaborate internal and external security measures had been arranged. The areas included the campus, hotels, and even the colleges. Therefore, strict surveillance was placed to counter any possible act of hooliganism or rowdy conduct. Generally, in the name of Holi, women become targets of such hooliganism. Hence, strict disciplinary action against any disturbance during the celebrations was to be taken.
A joint room was arranged comprising 5 proctor’s office in the North campus and 2 officials in the South campus. Hence, the control room is solely dedicated to deal with untoward incidents and ensure the safety of DU Women. Also, publicized helpline numbers were available. These numbers functioned every day from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm since 23rd March 2021. The proctor’s office and the security office also arranged for mobile patrolling that worked since 23rd March.
The University’s guidelines for its Women students:
Committees were also formed by the college principals, dean, and department heads. Hence, the committee was ordered to avoid any untoward incidents and assist DU Women students. The university had also been ensured full cooperation by the Delhi Police. So, maintenance of law and order and strict action against any kind of eve-teasing was ensured.
