Delhi University has won the Clarivate India Research Excellence Citations Awards 2021 in the Central University category. CIREC awards 2021 were presented today, On October 28. On behalf of the University, DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh received the award.
Clarivate provides research awards to institutions and individuals who have made outstanding and pioneering research contributions in the nominated categories.
Clarivate India Research Excellence Citations Awards are based on research and its impact. Selections for these awards are based on “objective criteria” in terms of impact, which is determined after analysis of research citations captured in internationally leading databases such as the Web of Science, reads an official declaration.
The awards are based notably on an in-depth analysis of impacts from the Web of Science Citation Index and Insight – a research performance and benchmarking tool. The statement further said that highly cited research publications that were high-impact research published during 2015-2020 were an essential criterion for the analysis.

DU VC Yogesh Singh in his award acknowledgment speech said Research has traditionally been an important core area and strength of the University.
The University’s relentless commitment to hegemony in research is evident from the high number of publications by faculty members each year. Many of these are in high-ranking peer-reviewed global journals, including Nature and Science.

Professor Singh admired the work and effort of the researchers at the University and remarked that as the Head of India’s premier University, he is glad to receive this prestigious award. He attributed this award to the strong effort and commitment of the faculty members and research scholars of Delhi University.
