DU TO SET UP ICCR CENTRE TO ENCOURAGE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

University of Delhi, in partnership with ICCR (Indian Council of Cultural Research) under MEA (Ministry of External Affairs), will set up a special center to cater to the needs of international students.

Indian Council of Cultural Research brings International students to India from 120 other countries. Recently, an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) has been signed between the varsity and the ICCR. This aims at improving academic and cultural exchange for faculty and overseas scholars.

The center, which will be responsible for helping foreign students enrolling in or joining the universities in North India, will be the north zonal regional office of the Council. As DU aims to increase the enrollment of foreign students, this center will be very crucial.
In the previous year 2020, the varsity could enroll three times more foreign students than usual despite the pandemic, shared acting VC PC Joshi.
From across more than 80 countries, students have joined the varsity adn most of these were sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Research.

VC further shared that the council will also provide assistance in arranging accommodation facilities for the students apart from cultural and academic programs as the issue of residence is a major one that needs to be addressed. Scholarships offered are also expected to attract students from other developing countries. This center will serve as a one-stop solution for all the documentation related queries and information, easing out a lot of pressure on the students.
