Delhi University administration has gone to the stretch of establishing several tele counseling helplines for students. Thus, it will help the DU students fight with all the stress and trauma resulting from covid-19. Also, students holding queries regarding DU exams or the new admission process 2021 will be attended by the tele counseling helplines. Hence, they are just one call away.
A tele counseling system is vital after the covid-19 horrors:
The whole 2nd wave of the pandemic has almost torn every household into pieces. Thus, the DU authority understands how tough it has become for youngsters with all these losses and grief. Often youngsters encounter anxiety, depression, and trauma after enduring such hardships. So, they innovated the idea of introducing tele counseling helplines. Students can now clear their doubts regarding exams, admissions, the future course of action, covid-19 trauma, and more.
Five colleges namely – Maitreyi College, Gargi College, Miranda House, JankiDevi Memorial College, and University College of Medical Sciences have volunteered. So, they will assist youngsters by providing mental support during harsh times. The colleges together have come up with 28 helpline numbers along with the Department of Clinical Psychology at Institute of Human behavior and allied Sciences. Also, the helpline number of many faculty members is provided by colleges for help.
The fruitful results of the tele counseling helplines:
Rachna Jain, a faculty member at Maitreyi College said that they are doing their best to provide support and assistance. Students are constantly ringing the lines with examination queries. They are confused if another round will be held for those who missed. Thus, the professors attending to these tele counseling helplines are inundated with calls. Indu Soni, a faculty member from Janki Devi College says that anyone needing additional support is so. They are connected to the college counselor for advice and therapy and also provided with necessary resources if needed.
